This week, developers discussed modifications to the Ethereum consensus layer (CL), various updates to the consensus layer specifications and engine API in the Pectra upgrade, including EIP 7251 and Beacon block bodies. They also addressed how to solve proof calculation issues for resource-constrained node operators, primarily home stakers, in PeerDAS. According to BlockBeats, the 212th Ethereum Execution Layer Core Developers Meeting (ACDE) focused on several key topics. The meeting highlighted the upcoming launch of Fusaka Devnet-0, scheduled for May 26. Discussions also covered the scope of Fusaka EIPs, including EIP-7825, which proposes setting the transaction gas limit to 30 million, and EIP-7918, which aims to anchor blob fee rates to the base fee to mitigate fee volatility. Both proposals are confirmed for inclusion in Devnet-1, with other candidate EIPs expected in Devnet-2.
The developers also addressed testnet strategies, deciding to first fork Sepolia while retaining Hoodi for application testing. The community is encouraged to maintain long-term testnets.
