According to Cointelegraph, Nick Drakon, the CEO of crypto research and education platform Revelo Intel, has resigned following an incident where he was held at gunpoint and forced to transfer personal, company, and investor funds. Drakon detailed the harrowing experience in a Sept. 5 post on X, explaining that a highly sophisticated group targeted, surveilled, and robbed him. The group was specifically interested in crypto assets and knew the deposit addresses of the crypto businesses he operated. Under duress, Drakon was compelled to log into several crypto accounts and transfer funds out. The thieves made off with his personal funds, Revelo’s working capital, retained earnings, and funds from Revelo Ventures, the firm’s investment arm. Drakon also revealed that the criminals threatened his wife and 8-month-old son. He suggested that there is some evidence indicating involvement from individuals within Revelo Ventures but chose not to disclose further details to avoid compromising the investigation and potentially putting his family at greater risk. Vu Benson, the former chief operating officer, will now take over as the new CEO of Revelo Intel. In an effort to mitigate the financial impact on Revelo Ventures members, Drakon has forfeited his interest in Revelo and committed to returning some of the stolen money. Additionally, 30% of the company’s generated profits will be allocated to affected members. Drakon admitted to making severe mistakes that made him a target and apologized to those who lost money due to the robbery. This incident follows a recent case in Ukraine where four suspects allegedly kidnapped and murdered a foreign national, stealing $170,000 worth of Bitcoin. Bitcoin cypherpunk Jameson Lopp has noted that criminals often identify potential victims through social media posts, meetups, and conferences. Lopp advises against peer-to-peer trades with untrusted individuals, flaunting wealth on social media, and wearing crypto-branded clothing.#ReveloIntel #CEO #NickDrakon #armedrobbery #cryptocurrencies #cryptoassets #funds #thieves #investigation #cryptoeducation #financialimpact #Bitcoin #cypherpunk #socialmedia #security #investors

According to BlockBeats, a tech investor who previously dated OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman was the victim of an armed robbery at his San Francisco residence last Saturday night, resulting in the theft of $11 million in cryptocurrency assets.
Surveillance footage reveals the suspect disguised as a delivery person, carrying a white package, and ringing the doorbell of the $4.4 million home. The suspect falsely identified himself as 'Joshua' and claimed to be a UPS partner employee. Upon opening the door and confirming his identity as Joshua, the victim was followed inside by the suspect, leading to a loud commotion.
Police sources indicate that the suspect held the victim at gunpoint, bound him with tape, and emptied his crypto accounts, also stealing his phone and computer. When police arrived at 6:45 p.m., they found the victim with multiple bruises. Investigators believe the gunman, who stole Ethereum and Bitcoin valued at $11 million, was part of an organized crime group.
Witnesses describe the suspect torturing the victim after binding him, beating him while on speakerphone with someone who had a foreign accent and was reciting the victim's personal information. The robbers emptied all of his crypto wallets within approximately 90 minutes.
The homeowner, 31-year-old Lachy Groom, is a venture capitalist and former boyfriend of 40-year-old Sam Altman. Property records show he purchased the home from Altman's brother in 2021 for $1.8 million.#TechInvestor #SanFrancisco #ArmedRobbery #CryptoTheft #Ethereum #Bitcoin #OrganizedCrime #SamAltman #LachyGroom #VentureCapitalist #CryptoRobbery #SurveillanceFootage #CryptoCrime #CryptoSecurity #HomeInvasion #PoliceInvestigation #BTC #ETH

According to BlockBeats, on January 9, three masked men broke into a residence in Manosque, France, and held a woman at gunpoint, stealing a USB drive containing her partner's cryptocurrency data.
The incident occurred at a home on Cherry Field Path in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region. The assailants threatened the victim with a handgun and slapped her before fleeing with the USB drive. The woman was unharmed and managed to free herself within minutes to report the crime to the police. Local authorities have launched an investigation, with the case being handled by the regional criminal investigation department and the national police.
Last year, Jameson Lopp, Chief Technology Officer of security firm Casa, documented over 70 violent incidents involving cryptocurrency worldwide in his public database. France has emerged as a hotspot for such crimes in Europe, with more than 14 related cases. Cybercrime consultant David Sehyeon told Decrypt that France's relatively high baseline level of criminal activity, coupled with the conspicuous cryptocurrency wealth of entrepreneurs, traders, and public figures, as well as the growing local expertise in digital assets, has created a fertile ground for speculative and organized cryptocurrency-related crimes.#armedrobbery #cryptocurrency #france #cybercrime #cryptocrime #usbdrive #criminalinvestigation #manosque #blockbeats #jamesonlopp #digitalassets #criminalactivity #security
