Amouranth shared her experience on X, stating that the intruders were yelling for crypto. In November 2024, she had revealed her holdings of approximately 211 Bitcoin, valued at $20 million at the time, and around $80,000 in Ether.
On March 3, Amouranth provided an update, mentioning that three armed men were involved in the incident. She shared a video, presumably from a security camera, showing the men being led to another part of her property before three loud noises were heard, causing the intruders to flee. Amouranth is known for her transparency regarding her finances, having appeared on a YouTube personal finance show and sharing her earnings from various platforms. She gained fame on Twitch as the most-watched female streamer in 2021 and 2022 and has recently expanded her presence to OnlyFans.
The incident involving Amouranth is part of a series of high-profile 'crypto wrench' attacks in 2025, where individuals are threatened with physical harm to surrender their cryptocurrency. In January, a Canadian volunteer moderator of a crypto forum reportedly went into hiding after an attempted kidnapping aimed at forcing him to transfer his Bitcoin. On January 21, David Balland, co-founder of Ledger, was allegedly abducted from his home, with the kidnappers demanding a crypto ransom. Another similar incident was reported in February 2025 in Chicago.
