🚀 Solana Ecosystem Faces Token Price Manipulation Concerns

According to Odaily, SlowMist founder Yu Jian has revealed on the X platform that certain imitation tokens within the Solana ecosystem are using price feed manipulation tactics to confuse the authenticity of tokens. These imitation tokens are identical to genuine tokens except for their contract addresses. They have successfully deceived multiple trading platforms, the Solscan block explorer, and mainstream wallets, affecting the display of token prices. This situation poses a risk of users mistakenly purchasing these tokens.

🚀 Cetus Exchange Hack Reveals Vulnerabilities in Decentralized Systems

According to Cointelegraph, blockchain security firm Dedaub has released a detailed report following the hack of the Cetus decentralized exchange, pinpointing the exploit of liquidity parameters as the root cause. The attack was facilitated by a flaw in the automated market maker's (AMM) code, specifically an oversight in the most significant bits (MSB) check. This vulnerability allowed hackers to manipulate liquidity values significantly, enabling them to establish large positions with minimal token input and subsequently drain pools containing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of tokens.

The incident highlights a growing concern within the crypto and Web3 sectors regarding cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Industry leaders have repeatedly emphasized the need for robust security measures to protect users and prevent regulatory intervention. The hack, which occurred on May 22, resulted in $223 million in losses for Cetus users within just 24 hours. In response, Cetus and the Sui Foundation announced that Sui network validators managed to freeze a substantial portion of the stolen assets, totaling $163 million, on the same day.

However, the decision to freeze these funds has sparked debate within the crypto community. Advocates of decentralization have criticized the move, arguing that it contradicts the fundamental principles of blockchain technology. Critics claim that the intervention by Sui validators represents a shift towards centralization, undermining the decentralized ethos that many Web3 projects claim to uphold. This sentiment was echoed by users on social media, with one post on X stating that the actions of the validators effectively transform the network into a centralized, permissioned database. Steve Bowyer, in a May 23 post, pointed out the irony of Web3 projects backed by venture capitalists leaning towards centralization despite their purported alignment with Bitcoin's decentralized philosophy.

🚀 WLFI Investigates Potential Token Manipulation Amid Price Fluctuations

According to BlockBeats, WLFI's Growth Director Ryan Fang expressed concerns about potential price manipulation by large token holders during an interview on Thursday evening. Fang suggested that some centralized trading platforms might be attracting user tokens and transferring them to other platforms for sale, potentially to lock in profits. He emphasized that the WLFI team is still exploring this issue and believes there is a possibility of such activities occurring.

Fang noted that community members have alerted the team to possible systemic manipulation, which could have caused significant damage in recent days. However, he acknowledged that the team lacks detailed evidence at this time.

On Thursday evening, the price of WLFI tokens hit a recent low of $0.1611 but has since rebounded to $0.2237. Early Friday, World Liberty blacklisted Justin Sun's address, freezing 540 million unlocked tokens and 2.4 billion locked tokens. The organization suspects that a trading platform has been using user tokens to sell off and suppress prices.

Over the past week, WLFI has blacklisted 272 addresses, with on-chain records indicating some were part of a bulk operation. On Saturday, WLFI stated that the blacklisting was to protect user assets and assured that accounts would not be banned for normal market participation.

🚀 [ContractVulnerability] SynapLogic Contract Exploit Leads to Significant Losses

A vulnerability in the SynapLogic contract has resulted in substantial financial losses. According to PANews, BlockSec Alert reported that the contract's swapExactTokensForETHSupportingFeeOnTransferTokens function lacked essential parameter verification. This oversight allowed attackers to manipulate the 'whitelist' logic and designate any address for profit. Additionally, the contract failed to verify whether the total distribution of native tokens exceeded the actual payment, enabling attackers to withdraw excess native tokens and simultaneously receive newly minted SYP tokens. This exploit has led to an estimated loss of approximately $186,000.

🚀 Resolve Attack: USDC and USR Manipulation Leads to ETH Purchase

An analyst @ai_9684xtpa posted on X detailing a recent attack involving the manipulation of USDC and USR tokens. The attacker initiated the process by using 100,000 USDC to mint 50 million USR tokens. Subsequently, 35 million USR were converted into wstUSR. The attacker is continuously exchanging wstUSR for USDC and USDT. Additionally, USDT is being used to purchase ETH, with a total of $4.55 million worth of ETH acquired so far. The attacker's address remains active in these transactions.

🚀 Federal Prosecutors Charge 10 in Crypto Wash Trading Scheme

Federal prosecutors in California have charged ten individuals associated with various cryptocurrency firms for their involvement in alleged wash trading schemes aimed at inflating token prices and trading volumes. According to NS3.AI, the charges stem from an undercover FBI operation that developed a token to identify companies providing manipulation services. The Department of Justice (DOJ) stated that the defendants artificially increased trading activity for paying clients before selling into the fabricated demand. Crypto experts have noted that wash trading continues to be widespread, particularly among lower-cap tokens and on smaller or unregulated exchanges.
