According to Odaily, the Texas Public Utility Commission (PUCT) has approved a new regulation requiring Bitcoin miners using the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid to register and disclose critical details about their facilities. Under the recently adopted PUCT rules, Bitcoin miners must provide state government agencies with information regarding the location, ownership, and power requirements of their facilities. Miners are required to register within one business day of connecting their facilities to the ERCOT grid and must renew their registration by March 1 each year.
ERCOT, an independent system operator, manages 90% of the state's electrical load. PUCT Chairman Thomas Gleeson stated that the new regulations aim to assist in managing the grid as more mining facilities come online.
