🚀 Ethereum PoS Network Experiences Significant Validator Queue Changes

According to BlockBeats, the Ethereum Proof-of-Stake (PoS) network is witnessing notable shifts in its validator queues. As of today, the exit queue has reached 2.636 million ETH, valued at approximately $12.28 billion, with a current queue time of 45 days and 18 hours.

Meanwhile, the entry queue stands at 634,000 ETH, worth around $2.97 billion, experiencing a delay of 11 days.

The substantial increase in the exit queue is primarily attributed to Kiln's withdrawal of validator nodes. Kiln has staked approximately 1.6 million ETH, and it is reported that the withdrawn ETH will likely be re-staked using new validator keys, indicating that these assets are not intended for sale.

On September 10, staking service provider Kiln announced an orderly withdrawal of all its Ethereum validator nodes following a hacking incident involving SwissBorg, aiming to ensure the integrity of staked assets.

🚀 Hong Kong Establishes Virtual Asset Intelligence Task Force to Combat Cybercrime

According to PANews, the Hong Kong Police Force's Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau hosted the Web3 Intelligence and Law Enforcement Summit today, where they officially launched the Virtual Asset Intelligence Task Force (VAIT).

The VAIT, led by the Hong Kong Police Force, comprises law enforcement agencies, financial regulators, and licensed virtual asset service providers. Its goal is to enhance the detection and prevention of crimes related to virtual assets and cybersecurity threats through intelligence sharing and collaboration.

Police Commissioner Chow Yat-ming reported that in the first eight months of this year, there were 1,463 cases related to virtual assets, including 15 hacking incidents targeting Web3 institutions, resulting in losses of approximately HKD 1.29 billion. The establishment of VAIT aims to promote compliance and security within the virtual asset ecosystem through a public-private partnership model, thereby strengthening market integrity and asset protection.

Previously, the Hong Kong Security Bureau had also formed a virtual asset intelligence task force to collaborate with relevant platforms in establishing a payment suspension mechanism.

🚀 Dota 2 YouTube Channel Briefly Hacked to Promote Fraudulent Token

According to PANews, the official Dota 2 YouTube channel was briefly hacked on Wednesday, leading to the promotion of a fraudulent token based on Solana, named dota2coin, through a deceptive live stream. There is currently no evidence of user data being compromised. Decrypt confirmed the existence of the video through log records. The live stream, titled 'Dota 2 Official Launches Meme Coin | Join Now,' included a link to the PumpFun token, which redirected back to the Dota 2 official channel. As of the time of writing, the market value of the meme coin has dropped to approximately $5,500, a decline of about 21% since its launch. On-chain data reveals that the token was created within hours of the attack, with a bonding curve progress of less than 3%, and over 98% of the token supply concentrated in a single wallet. Users on the r/DotA2 subreddit quickly documented the attack, sharing screenshots of the fake token promotion and warning others not to participate. Additionally, users reported that PGL, a Romanian esports organizer responsible for hosting Valve-authorized Dota 2 events, also fell victim to a hacking incident.

🚀 U.S. Government Seizes 127,000 Bitcoins in Criminal Case

According to Foresight News, the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center reported that on October 14, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice announced criminal charges against Chen Zhi and the confiscation of 127,000 bitcoins from him and his Taizi Group. Evidence suggests that these bitcoins were originally stolen from the LuBian mining pool by hackers in 2020. This indicates that the U.S. government may have used hacking techniques to seize the bitcoins held by Chen Zhi as early as 2020, marking a significant instance of a state-level hacking operation.

🚀 South Korean Court Upholds Sentence for Crypto Exchange Employee in Espionage Case

According to PANews, the South Korean Supreme Court has upheld a four-year prison sentence for a cryptocurrency exchange employee involved in an espionage case. The employee was found guilty of assisting North Korean hackers in recruiting a South Korean army captain to exchange military secrets for Bitcoin. The employee received $487,000 in Bitcoin from the hackers and paid the captain $33,500 in Bitcoin as compensation.

The court ruled that the employee violated the National Security Act, posing a threat to national security. The involved army captain had previously been sentenced to ten years in prison and fined for breaching the Military Secrets Protection Act. Investigations revealed that North Korean hackers instructed the employee to provide the captain with a "watch-shaped hidden camera" and a USB hacking device intended for use on military laptops to remotely access the Korea-U.S. Joint Command Control System, although the attempt was unsuccessful.

🚀 Web3 Security Challenges: Majority of Hacked Crypto Projects Fail to Recover

According to BlockBeats, on January 18, Web3 security platform Immunefi's CEO Mitchell Amador highlighted that nearly 80% of crypto projects that suffer major hacking incidents never fully recover. He noted that most protocols lack awareness of their vulnerability to hacking and are unprepared for significant security events.

Amador emphasized that the initial hours following a breach are often the most destructive. Without a pre-established incident response plan, teams may hesitate, debate next steps, and underestimate the impact of the breach. This period is critical for preventing additional losses.

Due to concerns over reputational damage, project teams often hesitate to pause smart contracts and fail to communicate effectively with users. Silence can exacerbate panic rather than contain the issue. The primary reason for the failure to recover for nearly 80% of hacked projects is not the initial financial loss but the collapse of operational and trust systems during the response process.
