According to PANews, Dutch and U.S. law enforcement agencies have dismantled the online fake ID marketplace VerifTools, which sold counterfeit documents for as low as $9 in cryptocurrency. The operation resulted in the seizure of 23 servers. The FBI reported that the platform generated approximately $6.4 million in revenue. Dutch authorities estimated VerifTools' annual turnover at around €1.3 million (approximately $1.5 million), making it one of the largest providers of fake identification documents globally.
The platform operated by requiring users to upload passport photos and input false data, which the site operators then used to create fake IDs.
