Hey TON fam,

Following the launch of TON Wallet in the U.S. this week, I’ve seen some confusion in the community around wallets, branding, and what’s actually available in the U.S. Rather than let misunderstandings linger or fuel speculation, I wanted to take a moment to clarify a few things directly.

Let’s please keep in mind that the U.S. and Europe are two new markets distinctly different from the rest of the world. What’s possible or available in one place doesn’t always apply globally. This difference matters.

The post below isn’t about calling anyone out, it’s about clearing the air and making sure facts are easy to access for anyone who wants them.

Appreciate everyone who’s asking questions and paying attention. That’s how we can Make TON Great Again.

1. Distinction Between Custodial and Self-Custodial Products

Wallet (now branded as Crypto Wallet) and TON Space (now branded as TON Wallet) are fundamentally different products. One is custodial and only available in select regions and the other is self-custodial and available worldwide.

This has been communicated publicly by both The Open Platform and TON Foundation, and the aim of rebranding was to simplify the user experience, not obscure facts. The suggestion that this was some sort of intentional deception is inaccurate and nonsense.

The recent press release regarding the U.S. launch explicitly referred to the self-custodial TON Wallet, not the custodial Crypto Wallet. There was no misleading claim from official channels suggesting that U.S. users now have access to the custodial Telegram-integrated wallet.

2. TON Wallet’s U.S. Availability

There has been some suggestion that U.S. citizens were misled into believing they now have access to the Telegram-integrated custodial wallet. This is not supported by the official announcement.

In reality:
- The newly available TON Wallet in the U.S. is a self-custodial product, which provides users with a seed phrase and full control of their assets, just like other popular wallets in this key market.

- It is now accessible directly within Telegram in the U.S., offering a seamless in-app experience, while still remaining self-custodial.

- Remember: your keys = your crypto.

3. Allegations of Manipulation

Some of the discourse seems to blur the line between genuine confusion due to rebranding — which was communicated publicly — and deliberate misinformation.

The facts:
- The rebranding of Wallet (now Crypto Wallet) and TON Space (now TON Wallet) were clearly communicated.

- The U.S. launch has been careful to comply with local regulations (hence the focus on the self-custodial wallet).

- The confusion stems from community misinterpretations and third-party commentary rather than any misleading communications from The Open Platform or TON Foundation.

4. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana on TON

Some community members have raised concerns about claims that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana are “available” through TON Wallet.

To clarify:
- Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana do not exist natively on TON Blockchain.
- TON Wallet does not claim otherwise.
- Support for these assets — whether via custodial services or cross-chain bridges — is in development and will be communicated transparently.

Suggestions that users are being misled about “Bitcoin on TON” is a sensationalized misrepresentation. Most users understand the distinction between native and supported assets via bridging or custody.

5. Why Use TON Wallet in the U.S.?

Some community members have asked why anyone would use TON Wallet instead of Tonkeeper or MyTonWallet. The advantage of using TON Wallet is the seamless access and distribution via Telegram.

TON Wallet’s deep integration with Telegram provides direct, mass market accessibility to crypto with an app people already know, trust, and use daily.

This is a significant step for onboarding new users and enables a lot of use cases which will be launched this year.

"Accelerator" Update: TON is transitioning to a new architecture

We are pleased to announce the completion of the "Accelerator" update, designed to ensure the stable operation of the TON blockchain under high and peak loads.

With this release, the TON technology reaches the final architecture described in the original whitepaper.

The update follows a series of recent optimizations that reduced operation finalization times to 3–5 seconds under low and moderate loads.

What has been done

Over the past six months, we have consistently finalized and tested all key stages of the update:

— Introduced partial nodes that track only part of the blockchain, rather than the entire network.

— Optimized the data transfer protocol between validators.

— Introduced a new node type: the collator.

— The test network was completely migrated to the new architecture.

The update of the main network validators is scheduled for July 28.

Key changes

— Optimization of shardchain tracking: Nodes can now track specific shardchains and the masterchain, rather than the entire network. This significantly reduces the load on the node and increases its performance.

— Separation of validator roles: A validator can be divided into two components:

1) Collator — collects transactions and forms candidate blocks;

2) Validator — verifies and confirms blocks;

This separation allows these tasks to be performed in parallel, which also improves performance.

Key benefits

— Increased overall blockchain performance — the network is capable of handling higher loads. This update does not reduce the execution time of a specific operation, but increases the overall throughput.

— Stability under high load — more stable operation execution times are expected during peak loads.

— Fast and efficient reading from the blockchain — the ability to monitor only the necessary shardchains speeds up data access and reduces resource consumption.

What's next

On July 28, validators on the main network are proposed to switch to new code that allows new functionality to be activated at any time.

Some mainnet validators are already working with a collator node, but widespread use of collators is not yet required — the blockchain is successfully handling the current load with a single shardchain.

When the load reaches a level where the mainnet will be permanently split into multiple shardchains, validators will be proposed to activate collators.

TON Payment Network technology now supports Web

Now a payment network node can be run in a browser.

Try the example in the test network and its source code.

In addition:

— Test nodes of the payment network have been launched.

— Improvements to the payment network node have been made.

— The payment network smart contracts have been updated and written in the latest version of the Tolk programming language.

— Smart contracts for the payment network were covered by unit tests.

TON Payment Network is a Layer 2 technology proposed by the original TON whitepaper that enables super-fast and near-zero-fees transfers between network participants.

Since the beginning of this year, the technology has been refined, unit-tested, and now supports jettons, extra-currencies, and the web, and can now be considered for integration into TON wallets and services.

Introducing the Jetton 2.0 Smart Contract

Transfers and operations with Jetton 2.0 are up to 3 times faster under heavy network load compared to jettons of the previous version.

This improvement was achieved thanks to new shardchain optimizations—the jetton-wallet holding a user’s token balance is now always deployed in the same shardchain as the owner’s wallet. This became possible after the TON node introduced functionality to deploy smart contracts into a specific shardchain (StateInit.fixed_prefix_length).

The smart contract is a direct successor of Jetton 1.2—used for popular tokens like $NOT—written by the TON Core team and covered by unit tests.

We would like to thank Andrew G Kiba, a community developer who made a contribution to the contract’s design.

A Tolk-language version of the smart contract will be released later.
