🚀 BTS Concert in Seoul Triggers Disaster Alert Due to Expected Large Crowds

The South Korean boy band BTS is set to perform with its full lineup at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, drawing an anticipated crowd of 170,000 to 260,000 people. According to RTHK, authorities have issued a Level 2 disaster crisis alert for the Jung-gu and Jongno-gu districts, effective from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday, marking the first time the government has issued such an alert for a specific event.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has established a situation room at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History near the stage to monitor and maintain safety and order. To ensure security, the police have deployed 7,000 officers and equipped them with anti-drone systems. Access control measures will be implemented in several buildings around the venue, and three nearby subway stations will be closed.

Yonhap News Agency reports that the disaster crisis alert system is divided into four levels: attention, caution, alert, and severe, with Level 2 being the second lowest.

🚀 BTS Returns with Full Lineup for Seoul Performance Amid Heightened Security

South Korean boy band BTS is making a comeback with a full lineup, performing today at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. According to RTHK, authorities estimate that between 170,000 to 260,000 people will gather in the vicinity. The government has issued a level two disaster crisis alert, 'Caution,' for Seoul's Jung-gu and Jongno-gu districts. Traffic control measures are in place around Gwanghwamun, with bus routes being diverted and several subway stations closed, preventing trains from stopping.

Yonhap News Agency reports that authorities have deployed 15,000 personnel to ensure safety. To manage the large crowd and potential terror threats, the police have stationed approximately 6,700 officers, including over 6,000 riot police. A significant number of female officers are tasked with security checks, and seven foreign affairs patrol teams have been mobilized to ensure the safety of international fans and address language needs. The event organizers have also arranged for 4,800 staff members to assist.

In the morning, police installed metal detectors at multiple entrances to rigorously check for dangerous items. Additionally, they are controlling access to 31 nearby office buildings to prevent spectators from gathering on rooftops. Anti-drone vehicles and portable jamming devices are being used to prevent illegal drone flights.
