According to Odaily, the collaboration between Google and AI startup Anthropic is at risk of disruption in the UK following a call from competition regulators for further investigation into the potential impacts of the agreement. The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced on Thursday that it would initiate a formal Phase 1 merger investigation. Last year, Google committed to investing $2 billion in the AI startup. Prior to the funding, Google also signed a significant cloud agreement with Anthropic.
